There is a special kind of magic in contrast. In the dance between softness and strength, grace and groundedness, elegance becomes a force. Join Dani for an immersive experience where fluid lines meet powerful accents, and the fan becomes an extension of both your softness and your fire.
In this workshop, you’ll learn four bold and beautiful Calaneya fan steps that perfectly embody this contrast. Flowing and light like silk are the MEDUSA FLIP and the EXTENDED SHAKTI TURN – both originally created by Devi Mamak. Then comes the storm: powerful, structured movements like MATADOR 2, now officially part of The Siren Project Flamenco Fan Format, and THE WITCH (STRONG ARM 6), a brand-new creation by Superbeth and Kiddo Sun—dark, grounded, and richly expressive.
These steps are exclusively from Calaneya’s repertoire and reflect Dani and Elena’s ongoing dialogue with Katarzyna Lidia’s original vision. Calaneya does not create a separate format but contributes respectfully to the established vocabulary, always checking alignment with The Siren Project’s core aesthetic before sharing anything new.
This workshop is designed for intermediate dancers with experience in The Siren Project Flamenco Fan Format or similar movement dialects. You should feel confident with fan handling and comfortable transitioning between slow and expressive movements.
If you are a member of Calaneya Dance Academy, you can join us, using two units of your regular membership or block card (recording available for a small extra fee).
